Heartstrings
Lately I’ve wanted to take newborn sessions in a new direction and involve the parents much more than before. And I’ve LOVED the results! I want parents to have the best of both worlds – lifestyle family photos and individual photos of their newborn. Photos of newborns are so wonderful but there’s just something about a lifestyle photo of mom, dad, and baby that just grabs my heartstrings. I know the last thing some mothers want to do is be in front of a camera after giving birth but I really don’t think it would be regrettable in the end when you can go back and look at precious photos of you and your fresh baby sharing a moment together.
Warning: These photos involve a beautiful mother (with gorgeous hair I might add) who just gave birth but looks like she never did. Try not to hate her too much – she can’t help it!

Happy New Year!
Is it 2012 already!? 2011 was full of changes for me – pregnancy, the birth of my son, and now being a stay-at-home Mommy. What a wonderful year! I know 2012 will be even better. I get to watch my adorable son grow this year, which is so exciting but a little sad. I just want him to stay little and cuddly forever!!

Baby Love
I love it when clients are open to ideas and are involved in the photos. Individual photos of babies are a must but my favorite images of babies are with Mommy and/or Daddy. I just love capturing those sweet relationships! This little cutie decided that the first try just wasn’t the day for photos but we tried again and he was PERFECT!! I loved every bit of this session. Plus my Elijah is the same age so his Mommy and I had a lot of “mommy talk”.
I was so excited to take these bubble bath photos! I’m glad Mom was up for it. They’re so sweet!

Connections
I loved loved loved the connections captured with this family. Mommy-daughter, father-son, brother-sister. Having such a fun bunch plus them being such a beautiful family made this a hard session to leave.
I love it when families get silly! 
One
I photographed this cutie at 6 months and now he’s ONE! It’s crazy how much they change in that short time yet how some features stay the same – same red hair, same blue eyes, same adorable smile but now with teeth! I loved watching this family interact at both sessions – if there was an award for “Best Entertainer” for parents at photo sessions, I think they would win it.
Imperfectly Perfect.
Before Elijah was born I thought I would have SO many opportunities to get great photos of him…..then he was born and I realized how wrong I was. It’s hard enough just being mom… but being mom and photographer at the same time is tough and exhausting! It’s so much easier photographing my clients. I’m such a perfectionist but I’ve had to come to the realization that I don’t need “perfect” pictures all the time (and honestly I don’t think I’ve ever taken a “perfect” picture) as long as I can just capture the moments no matter what the photo looks like – imperfectly perfect photos. So I take tons of imperfect photos almost every day and then some days I get lucky enough that they’re not as imperfect as most. I am, however, looking forward to getting someone else to take our photos one day so I can just be mom and not the photographer too.

Before the Braces
This beautiful young lady was the first person I practiced my photography on. She seemed so little then and now she’s getting braces!! I remember the days years when I had braces – lots of wax, broken brackets, rubberbands… oh all the things she has to look forward to. Can’t wait for the “after” pics!
We had so much fun! You did such a great job capturing our love for each other!
